Sandakan Park
Remember them 2017In 1991, Ted McLaughlin, an ex-POW and a resident of Boyup Brook erected a memorial in memory of three of his friends who had died at Sandakan. To Ted’s surprise, over 200 people turned up for the dedication of the memorial. Boyup Brook was the first place in Australia to erect a memorial to those lost at Sandakan

The History
The Boyup Brook District Pioneers’ Museum is located on the site of the old Masonic Lodge. Boyup Brook is rich in history and the people of the distrcit have contributed much to the development of Western Australia. The museum’s displays reflect the spirit and ingenuity of the pioneers of the district, with simple and sympathetic interpretation.
